Who Can Become a Lion

Membership is open to any person of legal majority and good moral character and reputation, regardless of their color, age, religion, language or political beliefs, who is dedicated towards the common goal of helping those in need. The motto of the Lions Club is ‘’WE SERVE’’. With membership, there is also an obligation on the part of members to abide with the Lion Code of Ethics and Lions International Objects (the twin foundation stones), attend meetings, accept assignments, participate in functions of the Club and contribute their fair share to the programs of the Club, District and LCI, all to the best of the member’s ability, There are also opportunities in a Lions club for your family.

Rewards of Becoming a Member

By becoming a member, you will be an integral part of the world’s largest service organization dedicated to seeking out and helping those in need. You will create a better community and world for all and enjoy the camaraderie of united action. Lions members are the lifeblood of this great organization that dedicates itself to the service of others who devote their time voluntarily and serve their communities with unmatched enthusiasm. You will enjoy the fellowship, cultivate lasting friendship, receive rewards of membership, experience team work and will be warmed by the thanks of the people you help. ‘’You will know that what you do is worthwhile and appreciated’’.

A Few Fund Raising Projects

The Club is the structure upon which all else is built and there are many signature projects in which the Lions participate each year. To mention a few these include Oktoberfest, Rock and Roll Night, Purina Dog Walk, Farmers Market, Breakfasts (including a Breakfast with Santa), Suppers, BBQ’s, Maplefest and an annual Garage Sale. There are also events which are not of a fund raising nature such as Remembrance Day, Christmas Party and Charter Night. Periodically the Club is called upon to assist with other community events such as Winterfest.

The Cumberland Lions Club holds its regular meetings on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. At these meetings the Lions not only band together to achieve results but they dine together and share comradeship. The Officers and Board of Directors are elected and they meet on the first Wednesday of each month.

And hey, while we're on the subject of meetings: If you're a Lions from any other club in the world, we sincerely hope that you'll visit us during our regular dinner meeting (check the calendar on the front page to see when the next one will be). WE LOVE MEETING OTHER LIONS, AND WE GUARANTEE WE'LL TREAT YOU LIKE ROYALTY! (warranty void where prohibited). Just send us a heads-up at and we'll roll out the red carpet!

A New Membership Program

In addition to the regular or more commonly known membership program, Cumberland Lions are in the process of trying to organize a community based Alpha Leo Club for young people between 12 and 18 years old. The Leo Club offers young people the opportunity to have fun, make new friends and experience the rewards of serving others individually and collectively. The motto of Leo clubs is Leadership, Experience and Opportunity.
