49th Maplefest a great success
The community came out to support Maplefest and allows the Lions Club to support local, national, and international causes.
Our 49th annual Maplefest Pancake Breakfast finished with a strong showing of support from the community. On Sunday alone, over 700 people crossed the threshold into Maple Hall to be served all-you-can-eat pancakes. The Cumberland Lions had a lot of fun putting on this event and owe a huge debt of gratitude to the other Lions Clubs in the area, without whom it would have been extremely tough to find the required volunteers to host this yearly celebration of maple syrup.
The Cumberland Lions belong to Lions International, the *largest* service organization on the face of the planet. There are nearly 1.5 million members in almost all countries of the world. Although Cumberland is just a small speck within this larger community, it provides citizens a chance to give back and to be a part of their community. We assist others locally, we run many programs regionally and nationally, and we even provide international relief efforts during catastrophes and disasters. Although the final tally for Maplefest is still outstanding, our attendance figures are similar to past years when we raised $5,000 with this one weekend alone.
If being a Lions member sounds appealing to you, why not check out the Membership page on this website.
Thanks again for making this annual event a success!
